January 1, Airline Ends Service in Three Cities Due To ‘Pilot Shortage’
American Airlines announced that it will soon end service for three cities due to a “regional pilot shortage.”
A spokesperson said the airline will be stopping service to Toledo, OH; Ithaca, N.Y.; and Islip, N.Y., on Sep. 7.
“We’re extremely grateful for the care and service our team members provided to our customers in Islip, Ithaca, and Toledo, and are working closely with them during this time,” the spokesperson told The Hill.
“We’ll proactively reach out to customers scheduled to travel after this date to offer alternate arrangements.”
The news comes as airlines reportedly canceled or delayed thousands of flights this past weekend.
