January 1, SNL Star Assaulted in NYC

“Saturday Night Live” star Chris Redd was rushed to the hospital after an attacker assaulted him outside of the Comedy Cellar in New York City.
The 37-year-old comedian pulled up to the famous venue in Greenwich Village around 9:40 p.m., and that’s when things went south.
Police officers told TMZ that a man wearing a security guard uniform charged Redd as he was exiting the vehicle and struck him in the face, bloodying his nose.
Law enforcement officers responded quickly as they were patrolling in the area, but the attacker had already fled. Redd was taken to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and was released.
As of this reporting, police aren’t aware of the motive behind the alleged assault.
