January 1, Conservatives Appalled After John Boehner Cries Over Nancy Pelosi

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1903: The Wright brothers make the 1st sustained motorized aircraft flight at 10:35 AM, piloted by Orville Wright at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Former GOP House Speaker John Boehner cried while delivering his remarks at current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) recent portrait unveiling. Conservatives weren’t moved by the Republican’s tears, calling the display “despicable.”
While liberals touted the emotional tribute, conservatives blasted it as an example of establishment Republicans being sycophantic to their political rivals.
“You’ve been unfailingly gracious to me, to my family and, frankly, my team here in Washington. And Madam Speaker, I have to say, my girls told me, ‘Tell the Speaker how much we admire her,'” Boehner said during his speech on Wednesday.
At the mention of his daughters’ admiration for Pelosi, Boehner started to cry. Video clips of the moment sparked mixed reactions on social media.
Brigitte Gabriel, the founder of ACT for America, tweeted: “John Boehner has and always will be an embarrassment to the Republican Party. What a disaster of a person and a horribly corrupt politician.”
Nick Adams, a conservative social media influencer, tweeted: “John Boehner crying at Speaker Pelosi’s ceremony is truly one of the most despicable and lowly things I have witnessed in my entire life. John Boehner is not a man. He is a beta feminist loser who most likely drinks soy lattes and avoids Hooters at all costs.”
Bonchie, a writer for RedState, tweeted: “Boehner is a perfect example of why Republicans can’t stand Washington. There are no stakes for the elites. The terrible policies, the support for abortion until birth, the harm caused. None of it matters. It’s just one big cocktail club where they all cry for each other.”
Conservative YouTubers The Hodge Twins tweeted: “RINO establishment Republican crying over Nancy Pelosi’s new portrait.”
While conservatives largely denounced Boehner’s display, MSNBC touted him for it.
MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle tweeted: “The only person who loves a good cry more than me… John Boehner (& I think it’s awesome).”
Lauren Peikoff, the executive producer of MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour,” called it a “great moment.”
MSNBC weekend anchor Jonathan Capehart tweeted: “Have to say, a crying Speaker John Boehner honoring Speaker Pelosi is a charming John Boehner.”
