January 1, US Considers Nationwide Ban on Gas Stoves

The Biden administration is considering a nationwide ban that would have a direct impact on about 40% of U.S. households.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says it’s weighing a ban on gas stoves amid growing concerns about the harmful air pollutants emitted by the appliances.
The agency plans to take action to address the harmful pollution, which can cause health and respiratory issues.
“This is a hidden hazard,” said Richard Trumka Jr., a CPSC commissioner. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
Multiple reports have found that natural gas stoves emit nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and fine particulate matter. The appliances emit these pollutants at levels that the EPA and the World Health Organization deem unsafe, linked to health conditions including respiratory issues, cardiovascular problems, and cancer. Natural stoves are found in about 40% of U.S. homes, Bloomberg reported.
In October, Consumer Reports urged consumers to consider switching to electric after testing found high levels of nitrogen oxide gases from gas stoves.
Last month, the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health published new peer-reviewed research that showed more than 12% of childhood asthma cases in the U.S. can be attributed to the use of gas stoves.
“There is about 50 years of health studies showing that gas stoves are bad for our health, and the strongest evidence is on children and children’s asthma,” said Brady Seals, a manager in the carbon-free buildings program at the nonprofit clean energy group RMI and a co-author of the study. “By having a gas connection, we are polluting the insides of our homes.”
Some city and state policymakers have already implemented changes to move Americans away from the harmful pollutants. In 2021, the New York City Council voted to ban natural gas hookups in new buildings smaller than seven stories by the end of 2023. In September, the California Air Resources Board voted to ban the sale of natural gas-fire furnaces and water heaters by 2030.
But some within the GOP say the potential ban is government overreach.
“If the CPSC really wanted to do something about public health, it would ban cigarettes, or automobiles, long before it moved on to address stoves,” said Mike McKenna, a Republican energy lobbyist. “It’s transparently political.”

It would help if the kids got off there butts,put down their phones and went outside. What say yee.
I agree. Everywhere I go I see kids with their faces in their phones while they’re sitting on their butts doing nothing physical. Or they sit in darkened rooms playing video games instead of being outside playing or working.
Well here We Go Back when the Hurricane came thu out of Electricity for Days almost Two weeks ofr me out in the Country if not Gas Stove would not be able to Cook for one or a family and many Fast Food places the Same closed for Days and Stores too not Food that was fresh if open Can Good would have to ear Cold or Warmed up outside on a Fire. the first days we Cooked on a Coal Fired Pit which some people have and could have some Coal left or be able to get some if stores where open but most Close no Electricity you Know.
They will be requiring catalytic converters for cows and pigs next with at least a 2 year life span, which will need to be replaced every 6 months. Then poultry houses will be required to install Amonia extraction systems that can compress it into cylinders with zero emissions. Plus all feathers can only be 6 inches long maximum and 1 inch minimum.
More control over the people. Next will be the gas furnace

How can they get any stupid-ier ??? Without gas stoves many country families would have to rely on wood, coal has already been cut off. Are we going to have to revert to the caveman era and re-develop things in a different way?? I was raised without electricity and running waetr. also running water when first married. do not happiiy look forward to repeating those days !!! What happens to people’s brains when they become politicians?? Obviously they lose their ability to think with common sense !!!
