January 1, Congressman Denies Performing as a Drag Queen
Embattled GOP Rep. George Santos has denied the “categorically false” claim that he used to perform as a drag queen in Brazil.
The New York congressman ripped the media for reporting the claim in a statement posted to Twitter.
“The most recent obsession from the media claiming that I am a drag queen or ‘performed’ as a drag Queen is categorically false,” Santos wrote. “The media continues to make outrageous claims about my life while I am working to deliver results.”
“I will not be distracted nor fazed by this.”
The emphatic statement comes after images claiming to show Santos dressed in drag at a 2008 show made the rounds. Two individuals who claimed to be former acquaintances told Reuters that Santos competed as a drag queen named “Kitara” in beauty pageants in Brazil 15 years ago.
