January 1, 4 injured in shooting at Texas high school
A student opened fire inside a high school in Arlington, Texas, during a fight, injuring four people before fleeing, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at Timberview High School in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. The suspect shot two people, and two others had unspecified injuries, police said. According to Arlington Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye, three went to hospitals and one refused treatment.
“This is not a random act of violence,” Kolbye said. “This is not somebody attacking our school.”
As of this reporting, the suspect is still at large. Police identified the shooter as Timothy George Simpkins, 18. He might be driving a 2018 silver Dodge Charger with the license plate number PFY-6260, they said.
