January 1, Chief of staff criticized for endorsing Biden’s new vaccine rules as ‘ultimate work-around’ for federal mandate
Ronald Klain, the White House’s chief of staff, was the subject of criticism after sharing a post that seemingly praised the Biden administration for “the ultimate work-around” for a national COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
President Joe Biden announced a “new action plan” that would force private-sector businesses with over 100 employees to require full-vaccination or weekly coronavirus tests. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration would enforce the new rules. Non-compliance with the policy would result in up to $14,000 in fines per offense.
Klain retweeted MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, who wrote, “OSHA doing this vaxx mandate as an emergency workplace safety rule is the ultimate work-around for the Federal govt to require vaccinations.”
Critics said that Klain’s endorsement of such an idea called the mandate’s legality into question.
“This is exactly the kind of big government overreach we have tried so hard to prevent in Arizona — now the Biden-Harris administration is hammering down on private businesses and individual freedoms in an unprecedented and dangerous way,” Gov. Doug Ducey (R) wrote. “This will never stand up in court.”
