January 1, DeSantis ramps up effort to fight Biden’s vaccine mandate, calls for special legislative session
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) ramped up his ongoing conflict with the Biden administration over COVID-19 restrictions, calling for a special legislative session to prevent the White House’s vaccine mandates.
“We have an opportunity here to take additional action, and I think we have to do it,” DeSantis said. “I think we have got to stand up for people’s jobs and their livelihoods.”
During a press conference on Thursday, DeSantis said that the special session would provide a set of barriers against Biden’s vaccine mandates in Florida.
As of press time, there aren’t any dates or additional details available.
“At this time, we have not received the dates or details regarding any proposed call,” said Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls. “We are in communication with the Governor’s Office and our partners in the Senate, and we will share details with you as they emerge.”
