January 1, Police Respond to Emergency at Ted Cruz’s Home

Police officers responded to Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) home in Houston, Texas, after reports that one of his teenage daughters had harmed herself.
Houston Police Department officers confirmed to ABC13 that they responded to reports of a 14-year-old with self-inflicted stab wounds on her arms. When police arrived at the home, they determined that nothing criminal had occurred and left the scene.
The teen was transported to a hospital. Though the teen’s condition is unknown, they’re expected to be OK, according to police.
A spokesperson for Cruz issued a statement, saying: “This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is okay. There were no serious injuries. The family requests that the media respect their daughter’s privacy at this time.”
Cruz was reportedly in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident.
