January 1, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Tackles Contestant [Video]

Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak left viewers stunned after he tried to “body-slam” a contestant.
Tuesday’s episode featured a contestant named Fred, who shared that he’s a drama teacher, bar trivia host, and professional wrestler. Admittedly, he gets paid “very little” to wrestle but does it “for the fun,” Fred said.
Fred ended up dominating the game with a series of puzzle wins. His “clean sweep” prompted Sajak to ask the other contestants: “Just because he’s a professional wrestler, you want me to body slam him for you?”
The contestants responded affirmatively, but Sajak evidently wanted to wait until he had the element of surprise. After Fred made it to the bonus round and won $75,800, he flexed his muscles before hugging his father in an emotional celebration.
At that point, Sajak suddenly ran over and tried to tackle the contestant, attempting to put him in a headlock.
The moment quickly made the rounds on social media, with one Twitter user writing: “It’s important that the world knows a 76-year-old Pat Sajak still knows how to put on a cross-face chicken wing.”
Entertainment Weekly got in on the fun, noting that Sajak “tried his best to body-slam a contestant, but it’s more of a body… hug.”
