January 1, Immigration activists accost Sen. Sinema in bathroom [video]

Immigration activists accosted Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) in a bathroom in Phoenix on Sunday, demanding that she support President Biden’s Build Back Better plan.
The confrontation occurred at Arizona State University, where Sinema teaches a class. Activists from Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA) followed Sinema into a bathroom and insisted she back the Biden administration’s $3.5 trillion reconciliation package. The group tweeted a video of the altercation.
Recording someone in a bathroom is a violation of Arizona law.
“Yesterday’s behavior was not legitimate protest,” Sinema wrote in a statement on Monday, adding that the group is one she’s “met with several times.”
However, representatives from LUCHA deny that claim.
“No one wants to meet with their senator in the restroom,” said César Fierros, LUCHA’s communications manager. “But it seems like there’s a price tag of several hundred thousand dollars to meet with her anywhere else.”
