January 1, ‘Hypocrite’: Biden Faces Backlash Following COVID Comments

President Joe Biden was subject to bipartisan criticism following his comments claiming “there is no federal solution” to the coronavirus, and the onus falls to state governments.

Biden’s controversial remark came during a call with U.S. governors.

“There is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level,” Biden said.

Americans across the political spectrum took issue with this, considering Biden’s claim that he would “shut down the virus,” which he repeated many times on the campaign trail.

“Joe Biden claimed he would shut down the virus,” the GOP tweeted. “Now a year later when he failed to do so, he says there is no federal solution to COVID. Joe Biden is a hypocrite.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R-FL) press secretary Christina Pushaw posted a video compilation of times Biden said he would “shut down the virus,” concluding with his recent remarks.

“What a difference a year makes,” Pushaw tweeted alongside the video.

But the criticism came from the left as well. Former Hillary Clinton adviser and left-wing activist Peter Daou publicly criticized Biden’s comment.

“NEWS: Biden gives up,” Daou tweeted. “‘There is no federal solution. This gets solved at a state level.'”
