January 1, Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Kwanzaa is ‘a Fake Religion Created By a Psychopath’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) responded to a tweet from the College Republicans wishing people a happy Kwanzaa by calling it a “fake religion created by a psychopath.”

“Stop. It’s a fake religion created by a psychopath,” Greene tweeted. “You aren’t bringing in new voters, you are turning them away. People are tired of pandering and BS.”

Kwanzaa is not a religion. According to Britannica, it is “an annual holiday affirming African family and social values that is celebrated primarily in the United States.” Kwanzaa “was perceived as a nonpolitical and nonreligious holiday, and it is not considered to be a substitute for Christmas.”

The College Republicans didn’t respond to Greene’s tweet, but it did retweet several other Kwanzaa-related posts from other conservatives.

“As President Trump said, ‘Kwanzaa is an opportunity to foster deeper cultural understanding and build stronger bonds of mutual respect and friendship between all Americans,” one user tweeted.
