January 1, NY Attorney General Subpoenas Trump in Fraud Case
New York Attorney General Letitia James subpoenaed former President Donald Trump for his testimony in a civil fraud investigation.
James’ office is looking into whether the Trump Organization manipulated the value of its properties. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is working on a parallel criminal investigation into Trump’s business dealings. The attorney general requested that Trump sits for a deposition on January 7.
A spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said the deposition “is not a part of the criminal investigation.”
“This is another political witch-hunt,” a Trump Organization spokesperson said in a statement.
“New York is being overrun by violence, children are being shot in Times Square, arsonists are setting Christmas decorations ablaze and homelessness is through the roof, yet the only focus of the New York AG is to investigate Trump, all for her own political ambitions as she attempts to run for Governor. This political persecution is illegal, unethical and is a travesty to our great state and legal system,” the spokesperson said.
Trump’s lawyer Ronald Fischetti said he intends to file a motion to dismiss the subpoena.
Fischetti said James’ involvement in both investigations presents a “conflict.” He said Trump has sat for many depositions over the years, and her office could review any one of them.

Article says: “This political persecution is illegal, unethical and is a travesty to our great state and legal system,” the spokesperson said.” NOT TRUE!! Trump has been subpoena for tax evasion and manipulating the values of his properties for the purposes of not paying taxes but able to get loans. I do not remember a time when he has sat for a deposition on this or January 7. Trump needs to start cooperating with our government to get to the truth.
