January 1, Putin Mouthpiece Warns of ‘Immediate Nuclear Strike’

One of Vladimir Putin’s closest allies warned of an imminent nuclear attack on any country that tries to detain the embattled Russian leader.

The stark warning came from Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov. During a recent broadcast of his show on the state-run Russia-1 network, Solovyov declared that any attempt to arrest Putin would result in an “immediate nuclear strike.”

Solovyov’s comments came after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president for his alleged involvement in the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine.

The Putin mouthpiece said that “any attempt to implement [the ICC’s arrest warrant] is a declaration of war.”

Solovyov began his remarks by responding to Germany’s Justice Minister Marco Bushmann, who said that the country would abide by the ICC’s warrant and arrest Putin if he entered their territory.

“Germany will be obliged to arrest Putin if he enters German territory and hand him over to the ICC,” Bushmann said.

Not long after, Solovyov responded on his state-run show.

“It calls for an immediate nuclear strike on that country! Immediate!” he fumed.

“That’s to say, any attempt to do it, to go against the will of the Russian people, which has made itself very clear, must result in a missile strike!” Solovyov added.
