January 1, Report: Texas police refused requests to escort Biden bus in “Trump Train” lawsuit
In October 2020, a Biden campaign event was canceled after a caravan of Trump supporters surrounded a campaign bus and tried to force it to stop in the middle of the highway or run it off the road.
Transcribed 911 calls reveal that San Marcos police refused multiple calls for assistance from the Biden campaign bus. The transcriptions are part of an ongoing lawsuit against the police filed by those inside the bus at the time.
“Despite these multiple calls for help from Plaintiffs and others, for the roughly 30 minutes it took to drive through San Marcos on the main highway that runs through it, there were no officers from San Marcos or any other police cars in sight—not on the I-35 exit or entrance ramps, nor on either side of the highway,” the court documents read.
Then-President Donald Trump retweeted a video of the incident on his now-banned Twitter account with the caption, “I LOVE TEXAS!”
