January 1, Rumble Offers Joe Rogan $100M to Ditch Spotify
Rumble, a video sharing platform popular with conservatives, offered podcaster Joe Rogan $100 million to ditch his exclusive contract with Spotify and bring his show to their service instead.
“We stand with you, your guests, and your legion of fans in desire for real conversation,” Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski said in a letter posted to Twitter.
“So we’d like to offer you 100 million reasons to make the world a better place. How about you bring all your shows to Rumble, both old and new, with no censorship, for 100 million bucks over four years?”
“This is our chance to save the world. And yes, this is totally legit,” Pavlovski added.
Rogan has been the center of controversy in recent weeks over interviews with scientists who critics claim spread dangerous misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines.
Spotify announced that it would add content advisories to episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience that deal with the coronavirus. In 2020, Rogan signed an exclusive deal with Spotify that was reportedly worth more than $100 million.
