A Michigan woman highlighted three million reasons why you shouldn’t ignore your spam folder.

Laura Spears found out she won the lottery earlier this month while searching for a missing email in her junk folder.

The 55-year-old purchased the winning ticket seeing an ad on Facebook for the Mega Millions jackpot. Just a few days later, she found the message.

“I saw an ad on Facebook that the Mega Millions jackpot was getting pretty high, so I got on my account and bought a ticket,” Spears said. “A few days later, I was looking for a missing email from someone, so I checked the spam folder in my email account.”

“I couldn’t believe what I was reading,” she continued. “It’s all still so shocking to me that I really won $3 million!”

The Oakland County resident plans to share her winnings with her family, and retire earlier than she’d planned.

Spears said she added the Michigan Lottery to her safe senders list, just in case.
