Trump, in call, urged Ukraine to investigate Biden’s son

(AP) President Donald Trump urged the new leader of Ukraine this summer to investigate the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, a person familiar with the matter said Friday. Democrats condemned what they saw as a clear effort to damage a political rival, now at the heart of an explosive whistleblower complaint against Trump.

It was the latest revelation in an escalating controversy that has created a showdown between congressional Democrats and the Trump administration, which has refused to turn over the formal complaint by a national security official or even describe its contents.

U.S. to deploy military forces to Saudi Arabia, UAE after drone attacks on oil sites

(NBC News) The United States is deploying military forces to the Middle East after Saturday’s drone attacks on major oil sites in Saudi Arabia that the administration of President Donald Trump has blamed on Iran.

“The president has approved the deployment of U.S. forces which will be defensive in nature and primarily focused on air and missile defense,” U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said at a news conference Friday.

Walmart to exit e-cigarette category as pressure mounts on vaping

(Yahoo Finance) Walmart (WMT) is exiting the e-cigarette category completely as a rash of mysterious deaths linked to vaping draws intense scrutiny.

In an internal memo obtained by Yahoo Finance on Friday, the retail giant said that “Given the growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity and uncertainty regarding e-cigarettes, we plan to discontinue the sale of electronic nicotine delivery products at all Walmart and Sam’s Club U.S. locations.”

(Huffington Post) Millions of young people around the world are stepping out on Friday to support dramatic climate action.

The global climate strike began early Friday in Australia and countries across Asia and the Pacific, and continued in Europe and Africa.
By midmorning in the U.S., protesters had gathered for some of the approximately 800 protests planned across the country, according to the group 350 Action.
