Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) rebuked Vice President Kamala Harris for claiming that the U.S.-Mexico border is secure.
“Kamala Harris’ statement that ‘we have a secure border’ is further evidence that she’s either completely disconnected from reality or she’s blatantly lying,” Gabbard wrote on Twitter.
“Either way, she has no business being a heartbeat away from the presidency,” added Gabbard, who was a Democratic presidential nominee in 2020.
VP Harris raised eyebrows when she declared that “the border is secure” during an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
“The border is secure,” Harris told Chuck Todd.
“We’re going to have 2 million people cross this border for the first time ever,” Todd responded. “You’re confident this border’s secure?”
“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,” Harris said. “But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years.”
