January 1, Elementary School Students Assaulted in Possible ‘Anti-White’ Incident [Video]

Police in Springfield, Ohio, are investigating an incident at an elementary school in which several white students were allegedly assaulted by their classmates and forced to say “Black Lives Matter.”

Video of the Feb. 10 incident was released by a local media outlet and subsequently posted on social media.

“The City of Springfield, Ohio has released surveillance footage of the elementary school incident from Feb. 10 where white students were held hostage & assaulted on the playground by black students who wanted to force them to pledge allegiance to [Black Lives Matter],” conservative journalist Andy Ngo posted on Twitter, accompanied by the footage.

Ngo also shared a police report of the incident. Per the report, the school notified the Springfield Police Department of the incident on Feb. 13 — three days after it occurred.

Kenwood Elementary School principal Evan Hunsaker told the responding officer “that a group of black students had gathered several white students on a specific spot of the playground, and forced them to state, ‘Black Lives Matter,’ against their will,” per the incident report.

“The suspects also were apparently recording the white students whom ere forced to make the statement,” the report reads. The principal said that “a few of the students who had tried to avoid the situation, were chase down and escorted, dragged, or carried to the spot on the playground. One student was also punched in the head by one of the suspects.”

Local outlet Dayton 24/7 Now published a 17-minute surveillance video of the incident. The footage appears to show three students being dragged to a spot on the playground, forced to their knees, and one student being punched in the head. The footage doesn’t include audio.

According to the incident report, police are investigating the situation as possible “anti-white” hate or bias. Springfield Chief of Police Allison Elliott said the department is “actively pursuing charges for the identified assaults that occurred,” per Newsweek.

On Thursday, the Springfield City School District issued a statement regarding the incident, noting that the “Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prevents the District from disclosing personally identifiable information or details about the discipline of a child to anyone other than their parent or guardian.”

“Moving forward from this experience, the District is working closely with counselors, mental health experts and multiple community partners and agencies to provide support to children and staff directly involved, as well as those not directly involved,” the statement read. “The District will use this experience as an opportunity to strive for greater acceptance, grow and reinforce community connections.”
